Information about the STEADY BBM 2 Outboard Motor Lock ( see the instruction video at the bottom of the page ).

A Steady outboard motor lock is a high-quality, Dutch-made lock that is required by most boat insurers because it is SCM/VbV approved .

The locks are made of seawater-resistant 316 stainless steel , are easy to install, and are completely vibration- and rattle-free while boating.

To choose the correct Steady slot, you need to look at how your motor is attached to the boat (transom):

For motors with toggle fastening (wing nuts)

These locks slide over the two hand-turning toggle clamps like a metal tube, so that they cannot be unscrewed.

 
Important for the insurance

  • Note down the key number Write down the key number immediately after purchase. In the event of theft, the insurer often requires this number as well as the original keys as proof of proper use.

  • Maintenance Lubricate the cylinder at least twice a year with a suitable lock spray to prevent seizing due to salt and dirt.

You simply slide these models over the two rotary clamps that secure the motor to the mirror.

  

Steady BBM 1

3.5 to 15 hp

Designed for smaller motors (and various electric motors) with a power output of 3.5 to 15 hp and a bracket spacing of 85 - 165 mm.

 

Comes with keys and foam on the inside to prevent scratches.

This type comes with an extra 2 + 1 key.

Specifically designed for heavier engines with larger toggle bolts and a bracket spacing from 145 - 195 mm.

Model for bolt mounting (fixed mounting)

If your heavier motor is mounted through the transom of the boat with fixed bolts, a toggle lock will not fit.

Steady BBM 3

from 15 hp

You mount this lock over the head of one of the mounting bolts. It prevents thieves from loosening the nut or bolt.

 

Comes with keys and foam on the inside to prevent scratches.
