Planetary gear design

The Riviera mechanical steering sets KMDA100 and KMDA100M both utilize a planetary gear design. A planetary gear design features three satellite gears that rotate on their axes and simultaneously rotate around the central rudder shaft.

Longer lifespan

This ensures an equal distribution of motor torque across three points of the central gear, thereby sharing and balancing system loads. The benefits of this special design are a longer system lifespan, higher efficiency, and less motor feedback compared to single-pinion gearboxes.
